Scoil Mhuire Newsletter November 2012.

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

We know Christmas can’t be too far off when the Folens Rep drops in samples of the Siamsa, Súgradh,Sonas and Spraoi Christmas annuals. The ever-popular annuals will be available for sale from Ann in the office at €4 at the start of next week.

School Book Fair

Every two years we organise a Book Fair. It is part of our efforts to boost and highlight the pleasures of reading and gives  parents an opportunity to select books with their children. Scholastic Book Fairs have a varied selection of books this year and all families are getting a flyer with details. The Book Fair runs from December 3rd -7th . Infant parents can come in on Wednesday 5th from 2.15- 3pm and all parents can visit the Book Fair from 7-8.30pm on the Weds also. There is no monetary gain for the school but we get a stock of books based on our sales which go to replenish our class libraries.

Shoebox Collection

Many thanks to all families who participated  in the Shoebox project this year. It is wonderful to see our pupils helping children around the world. Many thanks to Maureen O’Hanlon for organising the collection of boxes.

Carol Service

As this is a non-concert year we will instead have a Carol Service in St James Church Horeswood on Thursday December 13th at 7pm. This is a whole school service with 3rd class children portraying the Christmas story and everyone else joining in with carols. It is a lovely way of getting into the spirit of Christmas.

Junior Infant Prayer Service

The junior infant classes invited parents to a special Prayer Service in the school hall last Wednesday at 1.15pm with Fr. O’ Leary. It was a lovely occasion and members of the Parents Association were on hand with refreshments.

Confirmation Meeting

A reminder for parents of 5th and 6th classes whose children are making their confirmation next April that there will be a meeting in Scoil Mhuire this Wednesday night at 7pm.
