Active Schools Week

This week Scoil Mhuire is buzzing with activity as we participate in Active Schools Week . We have introduced a variety of activities over the past months and this week we have Boxercise, Irish dancing and Archery at different class levels. GAA hurling skills are back this week and we have our Junior and Senior Sports Days, weather permitting. 1st & 2nd did some scavenger hunting and walking in the JFK Park yesterday and 5th/6th plan a trip up there for orienteering. Mini 7′s Finals

Both camogie and hurling school teams went to St Patricks Park , Enniscorthy on Monday with high hopes of success following on from the girls football win last week. Alas, both teams were runners-up on the night to strong opposition from Oulart in the camogie final and Ballymurn in the hurling. Mini 7′s Football champions!

Congratulations to our girls Mini 7′s Football team who had a convincing win over Kiltealy NS last night at St Patrick’s Park in Enniscorthy. The girls displayed great teamwork and skill with a score of 1-6 to 0-2. Commiserations to Kiltealy who were in their first final. Rackard League medal presentations

Scoil Mhuire’s Rackard League teams were presented with their county medals at today’s February assembly. The runner-up boys team under the stewardship of Mr Cadogan received their medals from past pupil and local footballer Declan Murphy. The victorious girls team were presented with their medals by Niamh Mernagh, past pupil and All Ireland medal winner. Both Declan and Niamh praised the players and urged them to continue to train hard to reach even greater achievements in football

Modern Dance

Today (Tues 20th) we are delighted to welcome Becci Whelan from 2ManyDanceMoves to Scoil Mhuire for “taster” classes in modern dance. She is working with the top 3 classes- Ms O’Connor, Mr O Connor and Mr Crowley’s classes. This is part of our January Fitness action Plan.
