First Holy Communion

Our 38 2nd class pupils made their First Holy Communion last Saturday , May 28th . The weather was lovely and the children and their families participated in a beautiful Mass supported by a choir from senior classes. Credit is due to Fr O’Leary, Mrs Collins, Ms Walsh and Ms Radford along with the steering committees from both churches in the parish.

Our first school tour of 2016 takes places today! All 3 classes of excited Infants boarded 2 buses this morning and headed off to Kia Ora Farm near Gorey! For Junior Infants it was their very first school tour…..we hope they all have a brilliant time!

1916 Commemorations in Scoil Mhuire

Tuesday 15th March was designated Proclamation Day for Irish primary schools, a day to raise the national flag and read a Proclamation for 2016. At Scoil Mhuire 6th class pupils performed a play “A Triumph of All Sorts” written by an Offaly teacher Damian White and adapted to include songs and Wexford connections to the Rising. Seasonal songs at Cherry Grove

6th class from Scoil Mhuire paid the annual Christmas visit to Cherry Grove Nursing Home this morning to bring some musical cheer to the residents. Ms O’Connor and Ms Radford organised accompaniments to the carols and Christmas favourites. Many thanks to Siobhan and Tom for having us and generously providing refreshment for the thirsty singers!

Flag and Proclamation ceremony

Monday 19th October 2015 will be a day to remember for all our pupils and school community who witnessed the handover ceremony of our National Flag and 1916Proclamation by the Defence Forces. Lt. Shane Flood and Sgt Kieran Kennedy were greeted at the school gates by a Guard of Honour from 6th class and some 5th class pikemen on the steps with parent Therese Mythen piping the visitors through to the school Hall.
